Best Tacos in La Union? El Chapo’s
El Chapo’s is among the several San Juan La Union restaurants. San Juan is famous for surfing and is a food haven for those seeking delicious meals while enjoying the sound of the waves.

After having lunch at Chu’s Diner, located at The Great Northwest Philippine Travel Stop and Viewing Deck on McArthur Highway in San Juan, La Union, we decided to visit another spot, El Chapo’s. We ordered fried tacos for Php 230 and dirty horchata for Php 150. We were quite full from our earlier meal and had some dessert before this.

We really enjoyed the fried tacos. They were crispy and generously filled, and we opted for all beef. If I’m not mistaken, you can choose from beef, pork, or chicken or select all beef, pork, or chicken, with each order coming in three pieces.

I have ordered their dirty horchata thrice before, but it tasted quite different this time. Perhaps I just forgot how it used to taste, but it was sweeter than I remembered, which I didn’t like. It’s possible they changed the recipe, but I’m not sure. I could not finish it because it was too sweet for my liking.

It was good that the place wasn’t crowded since it was a Monday. We were able to relax for 30 minutes before heading back home. I really liked the renovations; the space is now more aesthetically pleasing, and more chairs are available, allowing them to accommodate more people.
