Addressing dark spots on my face

Spread the love

Dark spots from acne have multiplied on my face over the past few months. I’m unsure why this is happening; it could be due to the changing weather or my skin becoming more sensitive to dust as I age.

Whatever the reason, it doesn’t look good to me. Sometimes, I prefer to go out without makeup, but my imperfections are clearly visible when I don’t use concealer to cover them up.

The Ordinary Niacinamide

My skincare routine includes a daily cleanser, serum, and moisturizer. I previously used retinol but decided to pause for a while. After researching the ideal skincare routine to address the dark spots on my face, I decided to buy niacinamide and arbutin.

I have read that combining niacinamide and arbutin is excellent for reducing dark spots. I purchased The Ordinary Niacinamide online for Php 584 from a store that sells authentic Korean skincare products. I went for the bright drops from Gratitude Bar, a local brand, which cost Php 207 when it comes to the alpha-arbutin.

The Ordinary Niacinamide Serum contains 10% niacinamide and 1% zinc, which work together to brighten skin tone. The 1% zinc also helps control sebum production, which makes this serum an excellent choice for combination to oily skin types.

Bright Drops by Gratitude Bar

Gratitude Bar Bright Drops contain alpha-arbutin, a blend of seven types of hyaluronic acid, and vitamin B3 (niacinamide). The formula includes 5% niacinamide and 2% alpha-arbutin, and it is free from alcohol, fragrance, and parabens.

I’m pleased to find that it is suitable for all skin types and has a lightweight texture. After using it for just five days, I can already see a difference. The dark spots on my skin have lightened a bit, and my face feels smoother. Additionally, the tiny bumps on my face have disappeared. I use it two times a day: once in the morning and once in the evening. I always apply the bright drops by Gratitude Bar, which contain alpha-arbutin, before using The Ordinary Niacinamide.

Alpha-arbutin mainly targets reducing melanin production to reduce dark spots. Applying it first ensures better penetration into the skin, which enables direct addressing of these skin concerns.

Always perform a patch test on a small skin area before adding any new product to your skincare routine, which ensures it doesn’t cause irritation.
